Once you are up and dressed, this leaves you with one mighty decision… Do I have a late breakfast… or an early lunch? Or do I want the ultimate combination? BRUNCH! Brunch allows you to step into a realm of unlimited possibility. Pancakes, bacon, eggs, sausage, granola (weird), sandwiches, burritos, tacos, coffee, tea, prosecco, you name it… brunch allows you to have it.
Manchester is a vibrant and cultured city, full of exciting, independent brunch spots around every corner. The list for great food and coffee is endless, so we have just picked out a few that you MUST try!
Trove
Trove is a gorgeous little cafe located in Ancoats. It was started by a husband and wife duo, but now is a full team of talented artisans. They try to make all of their food by hand from scratch, from the bagels to the brown sauce. Whether you're after some eggs benedict or a full vegan, Trove can cater for all of the above! So why not treat yourself to a cake and a coffee and watch the world go by.
Federal
Federal has set up a home in both Deansgate and the Northern Quarter and was curated by Claudio and Emily in 2014. They have created a community of like-minded souls who are passionate about great coffee and amazing brunch. Everything is either made on the premises using the best ingredients or they are sourced from sustainable independent local suppliers (where humanly possible) so you can feel good when you eat good.
Evelyns
Evelyn's in Northern Quarter’s all-day neighbourhood spot. Whether you are after Coffee, Brunch, Dinner or Drinks, or maybe all of the above! From the most mouthwatering fry ups to the fluffiest pancakes, this cafe/bar/eatery has it all. Just look at those gorgeous sausages! But fear not veggies and vegans! Why not try the blue bowl; with spirulina, apple, yoghurt, banana, pomegranate and chia seeds.
Common
Introducing the fully loaded vegan nachos from Common. Deeeeeeelicious! Common is a bar, gallery, and brunch spot. With a colourful urban decor and US diner-style classics, feast upon brunch classics or American style indulgence. Treat yo' self. Idle Hands
Idle Hands is a beautiful little eatery that can be found in the Northern Quarter on Dale Street. Here is the short story: Idle Hands is a coffee shop, that makes pies, has a kitchen throwing out great brunch and they also sell natural wine and craft beer to both drink in and takeaway. What more could you want? Idle Hands is not just for those who enjoy drinking, tasting and making coffee, but those who enjoy discussing and researching it.
Northern Soul
Cheese, cheese and more cheese! If you are ready for an absolute cheese-fest then look no further! Northern Soul is said to have the BEST grilled cheese sandwich ever! With four locations in Manchester, no matter where you go in the city, there is a grilled cheese waiting for you around the corner. On Church Street, Tib Street, Piccadilly Station and the seasonal location of the Manchester Christmas Markets. It's a grilled cheese paradise.
Ezra and Gil
Ezra and Gil means Helper and Happiness, which truly reflects in their laid back coffee and brunch culture. This little space is a true neighbourhood hang-out with a vision to provide a simple menu of the best food and drinks in a wholesome and welcoming environment. Dogs are welcome, solo diners are welcome, and so are large groups. Whatever the occasion, there is a place on the table here.
Alabamas
Alabama's is a delicious American style brunch spot. Even from just scrolling through their Instagram feed you will be converted to their extremely fluffy, extra indulgent pancakes. Berries and Cream, Banoffee and Peanut Butter and Chocolate to name a few. But if you are after something a little more savoury then you can feast upon their glorious array of breakfasts, from bacon, eggs, sausages to the breakfast burger. And fear not there is something for the vegans too with the almighty big vegan breakfast.
Takk
Takk is defined by its aim to provide a big welcoming space to work, meet, talk and dream up big ideas. Takk is Nordic-inspired through and through as it is the result of travels throughout Scandinavia and Iceland. It is one big fat love letter to Reykjavik and it's wonderful people and their love for the coffee bean. You must try the Nduja and eggs - It is imported directly from Caábria in Italy!
Home Sweet Home
Home Sweet Home is an adorable little brunch spot in the heart of the Northern Quarter. The atmosphere has that homely feel as soon as you walk in with its fun and friendly aesthetic. It has the cakes and coffee of dreams, not to forget the most amazing milkshakes! If you're after some indulgence, this is the place for you.
